23rd Walk-A-Thon and
Korean Thanksgiving Festival

on Saturday,October 10, 2009
at Bloor & Christie

The Korean Senior Citizens society of Toronto held the 23rd annual Walk-a-Thon and the Korean Thanksgiving (Chuseok) Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Christie Pits Park.

The purpose of this event is to raise funds for either facility expansion or movement into better place. Hundreds of KSCST members and staffs have desired of it, since the building where we are using currently is not appropriate for seniors. It is too old and small, and far from wheelchair accessibility, it has too many stairs from an entrance.

It was beautiful day and over 600 people were gathering to enjoy it. Not only Korean-Canadian but some other ethnic Canadian people were watching and enjoying the event too. While the event was going on, lottery was on sale for fundraising. Also pizza which was donated by Pizzapizza was sold in low priced, during lunch time, as fundraising too.

It was followed by the Chuseok festival in which diverse traditional Korean performances and delicious Korean cuisine was experienced.

Some of the key attractions were performed such as MuGoongHwa chorus. Samul Nori presented Korean folk songs, and also traditional dances, line dance, break dance, Korean Farmers' Musical Instrument Band and church juvenile chorus were presented too. After that the public was encouraged to participate in a singing contest.

The 23rd Walk-a-Thon is finished successfully, and still donation is arriving so it seems $200.000 will be raised which is the goal of the raising.
